Coach profit rises as sales, margins improve

 Total North American sales increased 7% to $792 million, and the region's same-store sales were up 1%. International sales rose 6% to $382 million. Sales in China, which Coach has made the cornerstone of its international strategy, climbed 40%. Sales were flat in Japan, on a constant-currency basis.
